SESSION 1: Digital Engagement
Hands-on K12 workshop on digital engagement

Date: Monday March 20, 2023
Time: 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

CPE Credits: 2.5

Description
In today’s ever changing educational landscape, student engagement is a constantly moving target. Educators must strive to achieve optimal student engagement in traditional face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual classrooms. With each of these teaching methodologies, teachers have resorted to different approaches to engage students. What if you could use the tried and true strategies of old and transform them to be relevant in today’s digital classroom?

This session is for all K-12 teachers from any discipline, librarians, and administrators. During this workshop, you’ll learn about and apply John Hattie’s Visible Learning to your lesson design. In addition, you will participate in a strategy transformation activity to improve your student engagement.

After the completion of this session you will be able to walk away with a complete understanding of how to increase engagement without having to reinvent the wheel. You will also receive the template on how to facilitate this activity with your colleagues.

What to bring:

  • A lesson that has been used with students, preferably one that is used in a traditional classroom setting. It may be most beneficial to choose a lesson that is known to have low student engagement that you desire to make more engaging.
  • Your computer or tablet
